Named for "Big Annie" Clemenc (Pronounced Clements), who was an American labor activist born in Calumet, MI. She founded and served as president of the local Women's Auxiliary No. 15 of the Western Federation of Miners and was an active participant in the Copper Country Strike of 1913-1914.
